All-weather, storable cold mix
areas of application
BITU® KMG cold mix is primarily used for the maintenance and repair of asphalt roads. The main areas of application are road maintenance and the elimination of hazardous areas. Frost heaves, potholes and burst center seams can also be closed very well. Also in service road construction, in bicycle and sidewalk construction, as well as ramping and driveways.

The damaged area must be cleaned before installation. Standing water must be removed. Pre-treating the damaged area with BITU adhesive improves adhesion. An optimal bond requires good compaction of the edges. Compaction is done mechanically or with a tamper. The compression process gives BITU® KMG its best possible adhesive strength. After compaction, the damaged area is to be covered with fine sand.
In order to obtain an even installation thickness and to prevent the covering from sliding, we recommend first chiseling off the edges of the installation site neatly and vertically. The layer thickness should be 1.5 – 2 cm. Depending on the layer thickness and the ambient conditions, the hardening process until the final strength is achieved can take several weeks.

storage
The product can be stored for at least 6 months. Packaged material, for example in sacks or buckets, has a longer shelf life. Loose material must be covered. During prolonged storage, a thin layer forms on the surface due to weather influences, which does not affect the quality properties of the material, but rather represents a certain protective layer for the stored mix. During removal, this layer is mixed with the underlying material.
