BITUFUG® DS 1, N1

Bituminous hot grout for concrete and asphalt joints

BITUFUG® DS 1, N1 is a hot-processed, elastic sealing compound based on polymer bitumen

The joint sealing compound BITUFUG® DS 1, N1 corresponds to:

  • the requirements of the technical contract terms and guidelines for joints in traffic areas ZTV Fug-StB 15 and DIN EN 14188-1
areas of application

Particularly suitable for casting joints from 5-6 mm wide, eg for concrete roadways, asphalt surfaces, motorways, federal roads, airports, road surfaces with increased cold and heat stress, silo panels, biogas plants or similar areas of application. Due to its ingredients, BITUFUG® DS 1, N1 is resistant to aqueous solutions, salts, diluted acids, etc

processing

The joints should be roughly cleaned with a machine broom, and then blown out or vacuumed with compressed air. Freedom from dust and dryness of the joints are and will remain essential prerequisites for a good seal. The applied primer should completely cover the flanks of the joint space and should be spread on both sides of the joint and the road with a strip about 1 cm wide. The primer must be dry, ie the primed surfaces must be smudge-proof when touched with a finger before the joint sealing compound is applied. In the case of renovations (renewal of the grouting), the remains of old compound must also be removed and the joint flanks must be free of any concrete after-treatment agents, otherwise adhesion impairments may occur.

melting

Melting should only be done in a motor-driven stirrer cooker. When melting the shattered blocks of mass, heat slowly. The temperature of 170°C must be maintained with constant stirring or circulation. Temporarily exceeding or falling below this temperature of 10% is not important for our products, but exceeding 190° C should be avoided. Due to its high binder content, the mass becomes viscous at low temperatures and no longer "runs" (risk of lumps or cavity formation in the joint = later sagging!), whereas at high temperatures the mass becomes too thin and "like water " runs (risk of segregation in the boiler = sinking and burning of the fillers and additives added for stabilization and tempering).

Shed

After the BITUSOL primer has dried, the grouting work can begin. The prescribed melting process must be observed (equipment and temperatures). If the temperature is too low, the pouring ability suffers and cavities form and the joint sealing compound sags as a result. After cooling, the volume of this joint sealing compound naturally decreases. Please note this when installing (2-layer installation). The processing temperature should not be undercut to ensure a homogeneous fusion.

Characteristics
  • good permanent plasticity
  • excellent heat resistance
  • excellent cold resistance
  • high resistance to aging and weathering
  • very high adhesion to concrete, asphalt and various metals
  • low surface tack at normal outside temperatures

It should only be cast in dry weather and at temperatures above 5°C. As the mass cools, it collapses, so it must be filled with supernatant. If additional pouring is required, this should be done onto the shiny, clean surface of the first pour.

consumption

Joint length (m) x joint width (cm) x joint depth (cm) x specific weight (1.02) : 10 = consumption in kilograms
The consumption of BITUSOL-Voranstrich is approx. 3% of the casting compound requirement

processing temperature

approx. 150 - 180°C Density: approx. 1.02 g/cbm
