For casting joints from 5 - 6 mm wide, on concrete roadways, asphalt surfaces, motorways, federal roads, airfields, etc. - for increased cold and heat stress.

processing

A dust-free and dry joint is and remains an indispensable prerequisite for a good seal. For this reason, the joint to be renovated is cleaned by a sweeper in the first step. In the second step, cleaning is carried out using high air pressure. This process removes the last dust particles from the joint. When renovating existing joints, the old joint sealing compound must be completely removed.

The primer should be applied to the road surface on both sides in a "strip form" with a width of about 1 cm. The flanks of the joint space must be completely covered. Before installation, it must be ensured that the primer has dried or is smudge-proof.

melting

The battered mass blocks are slow to heat up at a temperature of 180°C. During the melting process, the material must be stirred or circulated evenly. For this reason, the processing should only take place in a motor-driven stirrer cooker. The temperature can at times be up to 10% higher or lower. However, a temperature of over 200° C should definitely be reached. Due to the high binder content, the mass becomes viscous at too low temperatures and no longer "runs" (risk of lumps or cavity formation in the joint = later sagging!), whereas the mass becomes too thin at too high temperatures and "like water" runs (risk of segregation in the boiler = sinking and burning of the fillers and additives added for stabilization and tempering).

The work should only be carried out in dry weather and at temperatures above 5°C. The material contracts as it cools. For this reason, the sealing compound must be installed with an overhang. Necessary recasting work should be done on the shiny, clean surface of the first cast.
