BITU® M 65 K

Cationic mixed emulsion based on bitumen emulsion BITU® M 65 K is a binder for the production of cold asphalt that can be stored for a long time

Application

Cold asphalt is suitable for repairing road damage, as part of preventive road maintenance and for filling potholes, wide cracks and frost damage.

Characteristics

BITU® M 65 K is a fluxed special bitumen emulsion based on bitumen, without carbon-derived components. The effect of this special emulsion is set in such a way that it partially breaks down the mineral. In this phase, good adhesion to the mineral and thus good encapsulation is ensured. The remaining part of the bitumen emulsion combines only slowly with the rock due to the special active ingredients. As a result of this process, the emulsion remains effective for a longer period of time with the remaining liquid and forms an emulsion film, which is crucial for the good workability and flowability of cold asphalt.

processing

BITU® M 65 K can be processed in all types of mixing plants such as hot mixing plants, concrete mixing plants or similar. In general, the emulsion should be stored in separate tanks and conveyed through separate lines. The associated dosing unit must be suitable for the use of emulsions. In the case of hot-mixing systems, it should be noted that the emulsion cannot under any circumstances be conveyed via the usual bitumen lines. (Emulsion lines cannot be heated above approx. 80° C)

guide formulation

The basic suitability of the minerals to be used must be checked in advance. An individual adaptation of the bitumen emulsion to the minerals is possible. The grain size 2/5 mm with a maximum undersize has proven itself. Depending on the grain size distribution, the associated binder content is approx. 4.5 – 4.8%, ie with an emulsion content of approx. 6.9 – 7.5%.
